Mask Mandate Update – A Message To Our Valued Patients:
Texas Governor, Greg Abbot, announced that some statewide COVID-19 mandates will be lifted as of 03/10/21. The most notable of those being the mask mandate.
As we know, although vaccines are being distributed throughout the state, COVID-19 remains a serious concern in our state, and new cases are still being confirmed daily.
In a continued effort to prioritize the safety of our patients and community, we will continue to require the use of masks while in our office. We are fully committed to ensuring the safety of both our team and patients as we navigate this ongoing pandemic.
In addition to requiring mask use, our office will continue to practice all other COVID-19 safety protocols, including constant sanitation and practicing social distancing where possible.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. The safety of our patients and team is and has always been our top priority.
Thank you and stay safe,
Vision Centers of Houston
What we’re doing to help slow down the spread of COVID
Due to the current COVID-19 situation, our office has implemented several new safety protocols to protect both staff and patients.
Mask requirement!
Temperatures taken upon entrance of the office of all patients and staff
Screening COVID questionnaire.
Digital phoropters instead of manual phoropters to decrease patient/doctor time.
Limited Appointments to decrease the number of patients in our office to allow adequate physical distancing
Sneeze guards at the front desk, slit lamp, and pupilometers.
Pure&Clean disinfection of each room every patient. Pure&Clean is the leading supplier of hypochlorous acid that is nontoxic to human cells yet is EPA proven to use against the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
We are proud to introduce the Herkau H-75 Ultraviolet Disinfection Cabinet at our Deerbrook and Greenway locations. These amazing devices utilize UV-C light to completely sterilize each frame in the office. The ultraviolet sterilization process used in these cabinets is lethal to virtually 100% of all microorganisms, ensuring a safe frame buying experience for every patient.

Q&A | What is Dry Eye Syndrome?
Dry eye can cause quite a few symptoms, anything from the eyes actually feeling dry to the eyes watering often, or having a burning, itchy, or irritated feeling. One of the most common symptoms is the eyes feeling gritty or like something is in your eye. Most people will often experience blurred vision since the tears, which comprise the outermost surface of the eye, are unstable.
Dry eye is multi-factorial, and each person’s dry eye is unique to them. To help prevent dry eye, make sure to consume 8 to 10 glasses of water per day to avoid dehydration. Some nutritional supplements, such as fish oil and flax seed oil, can contribute to a more stable tear layer.
Remember to blink regularly and take breaks often when on a computer, cell phone or when watching television. During times of the year when there is less humidity, a humidifier might be helpful to provide more moisture in the air.
